§ 02 — About Anas

Evidence, leadership and effective institutions

Portrait of Anas Ali Dahir, researcher and university lecturer

Anas Ali Dahir, MAPPM, is a researcher, university lecturer and development practitioner focused on the relationship between evidence, leadership and effective institutions in Somalia and East Africa.

He serves as Executive Director of the East Africa Association for Research and Development (DAD). His work spans project planning, monitoring and evaluation, research design, community engagement and regional development. He has worked on questions of conflict resolution, reconciliation, state-building and public service performance, bringing research and implementation into the same conversation.

Anas also teaches project management and related subjects at university level. In his writing, he examines how institutions can translate policy commitments into measurable results, particularly in trade, health, governance and development. His approach is practical: define the problem clearly, test claims against evidence and identify decisions that people can implement.

He holds a Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mogadishu University. His ongoing academic work examines monitoring and evaluation tasks, nurturing care training and the performance of maternal and child health projects in Somalia.
